We've moved back up to NE Arkansas only to ge thit with another 4 to 5 inches of snow! The snow is melting off fast and the birds are moving up. Hopefully that's the end of the snow down here.
We've had a couple of tough hunts where we've only killed 3 geese per day, but we also had our best day so far of 49. Overall, given the tough conditions, we've had pretty decent hunting.
The extra time, effort, and expense of moving South for a week was worth it.
We are just going to keep plugging along and trying hard and keep killing geese.

The Spring Snow Goose season has officially begun! For the second straight year, Mother Nature has thrown a curve ball at us in the form of a major snow storm. We were hit with 8 - 10 inches of rain, snow, and ice in NE Arkansas and all the Snow Geese vacated the area. We decided to pack up and hit the road and found good numbers of birds South of I40.
The first two days we had little to no wind, but we still ended up killing 15 and 20. On Wednesday we had a little more wind and we were able to bring down 45 Snows and Blues.
There's a noticeable decline in juvenile birds this year and I expect the harvest to be down about 30% from last year. I believe that will probably hold true. However, 20 - 25 birds a day is still a great day of hunting!
As I previously stated, the Arkansas season is fully booked, but we do have a few openings for up to 3 hunters in the South Dakota Spring Snow Goose season. Some are even on weekends. Call or e-mail me to book your hunt.

We just got back from 9 days of hunting the famous flooded timber of Arkansas. It was cold ,cold and more cold! We started out in the northeast part of Arkansas and had very limited success. In four days of hunting we were only able to bag 3 mallards. After the fourth day with the timber iced over and temps forecasted to be even colder we packed up and headed further south.
On the fifth day we found a good amount of ducks and managed to find a good spot for the following mornings hunt. As the sky lighted up on the 6th day the sky was soon filled with ducks. An hour and a half later we had our limit of mallards with some bonus shovlers, teal and woodies....all in the flooded timber! Thats what we were here for. The next three days were a little slower but still good. We killed over 50 ducks the final four days.
The snow goose season is just a few weeks away. Our Arkansas season is fully booked. We still may have some weekend openings in SD but right now they are all booked. Just depends if the deposits all come in or we receive some cancellations. The week of March 15th-18th is still open.

It was a very interesting duck season. We had open water till the very end. On an average year most of the water in western Mn will completely frozen over by Nov. 15th. Not so this year. Our last hunt on Nov. 28th turned into one of our best. 24 mallards and 8 honkers. We had a great season. Our lowest day was 7 ducks, but even more so than that I believe that everyone who hunted with us had a great time and were very satisfied with our guide service.
Time to get the snow goose gear in order. Our Ark hunts are booked with only a couple of weekday deposits needed. Our SD hunts are filling up fast. We only have a handful of weekend spots still open. The week of the 15th-18th is open as well as 3 spots open on the 29th-30.
