We just got back from 9 days of hunting the famous flooded timber of Arkansas. It was cold, cold and more cold! We started out in the northeast part of Arkansas and had very limited success. In four days of hunting we were only able to bag 3 mallards. After the fourth day with the timber iced over and temps forecasted to be even colder we packed up and headed further south.
On the fifth day we found a good amount of ducks and managed to find a good spot for the following mornings hunt. As the sky lighted up on the 6th day the sky was soon filled with ducks. An hour and a half later we had our limit of mallards with some bonus shovlers, teal and woodies....all in the flooded timber! Thats what we were here for. The next three days were a little slower but still good. We killed over 50 ducks the final four days.
The snow goose season is just a few weeks away. Our Arkansas season is fully booked. We still may have some weekend openings in SD but right now they are all booked. Just depends if the deposits all come in or we receive some cancellations. The week of March 15th-18th is still open.
